Il mio primo post su quelli che ritengo siano dei talenti e ai quali voglio dare la possibilità di emergere e di farsi conoscere, lo scrivo su un mio carissimo amico. Una persona che stimo tantissimo e che ha lottato e lotta tanto per realizzare il suo sogno. 
Vorrei dirvi che l'ho intervistato davanti un buon caffè in un bar di Catania, dove lui vive e lavora, così come facciamo quando ci incontriamo nei miei break siciliani, parlando per ore ed ore!!
E invece la mia è stata un'intervista online dove ho immaginato ogni espressione del suo volto di fronte alle mie domande per alcune delle quali so che ha risposto con un sorriso.

Nato nel 1982 e cresciuto fino all'età di 12 anni a Niscemi, piccola cittadina dell'entroterra siciliano, consegue la maturità presso il Liceo Classico di Caltagirone con ottimi voti e si iscrive alla Facoltà di Lingue e Letterature Straniere di Catania, frequentando il corso di Scienze per la Comunicazione Internazionale. Si specializza nello studio della lingua russa, studiando anche inglese e arabo. Frequenta la prestigiosa Università Statale di Mosca "Lomonosov", venendo a strettissimo contatto con la cultura e la società russa della capitale.

Dopo la laurea con una tesi sulla pubblicità commerciale sovietica e post-sovietica crea e sviluppa diversi progetti nel settore internet, dando vita a thlcareers.com, una società internazionale con sede a Catania che opera attraverso il portale web www.thlcareers.com, il miglior sito internet in Italia di rango internazionale, dedicato a chi cerca e offre lavoro nel settore del turismo, dell'ospitalità e del tempo libero.

Tramite un'assidua attività di progettazione e sviluppo, il portale web diviene in breve tempo, il migliore punto di domanda e offerta di lavoro nel settore turismo in Italia, vantando nel portfolio clienti aziende leader nel settore come Jumeirah, Costa Crociere, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Valtur, Hilton, Missoni Hotels, solo per citarne alcuni.

E' dura lasciare il mondo ovattato dell'Università e passare a quello impervio del lavoro? Con che spirito hai affrontato i primi colloqui e i primi no, se ce ne sono stati?

L'università è sempre un rimpianto, nel senso che il mondo del lavoro ti impone carichi di stress e responsabilità di gran lunga superiori. A volte guardando indietro vorrei tornare a fare lo studente! Uno studente invece spera di poter finire presto di studiare per andare a lavorare!
Se l'università è difficile, il mondo del lavoro è esponenzialmente più ostico e impietoso. I primi colloqui di lavoro sono stati abbastanza semplici, sebbene qualche rifiuto sia arrivato. Ma nonostante il mio piccolo successo, ho capito che il lavoro dipendente non era il mio futuro ed ho cercato altre strade. 

Hai avuto altre esperienze di lavoro prima di thlcareers, ti sono servite? Quanto queste hanno influito nella tua crescita personale?

Le esperienze di lavoro prima di thlcareers sono state formative, mi hanno insegnato quanto sia lontano il mondo del lavoro da quello dell'istruzione. Ma in realtà quello che ho imparato durante il lavoro non era per me nuovo. Le esperienze lavorative prima di thlcareers sono solo servite per rafforzare la mia intraprendenza. So benissimo che non è facile, soprattutto in Sicilia, trovare aziende serie ed importanti che ti danno la possibilità di crescere e questo è stato un motivo in più per scegliere "l'autoimpiego".

E' stato molto coraggioso da parte tua assumere il ruolo di imprenditore con tutti i rischi che questa figura comporta, non hai avuto dei momenti in cui le tue certezze hanno vacillato? E come le hai affrontate?

I momenti di scoraggiamento fanno parte del gioco. Ma credo in me stesso e nella buona idea del mio core business. In fondo le idee migliori nascono da un sogno. A volte diventano realtà, altre volte no, ma vale sempre la pena provare anzichè vivere con il rimpianto di non esserti dato una possibilità.

Chi ti è stato vicino nei momenti difficili?

Senza i miei genitori forse non avrei mai iniziato, loro sono l'arco e io la freccia. Continuano ad incoraggiarmi nei momenti difficili. Sebbene sia Valentina, la mia ragazza, la persona che mi "sopporta" quotidianamente. Gli amici poi sono i miei "compagni di sogni"!

Da dove nasce l'idea di thlcareers.com?

Nasce dallo iato che le aziende italiane hanno lasciato nel mercato. Realtà come thlcareers sono affermate all'estero, ma in Italia pochissime aziende offrono servizi come i nostri, che sono comunque apprezzati e utili.

Immagino che all'avvio di thlcareers.com avrai avuto come compagna di viaggio la burocrazia, ti ha dato molti problemi?

La burocrazia è sinonimo di problemi, che si concretizza in perdita di tempo e denaro. Non la ritengo inutile, ma sicuramente è possibile snellire procedure e diminuire i tempi.

Gestire un sito come quello di thlcareers.com oggigiorno in Italia è difficile?

L'importante è trovare le persone giuste, capaci, dinamiche e competenti. E questo si, specialmente in Sicilia, è difficile nonostante Catania vanti un'università molto prolifica di studenti competenti. Il problema fondamentale è la siderale distanza tra il mondo della formazione e quello del lavoro, che al contrario dovrebbero essere uno la prosecuzione naturale dell'altro.

Lavori molto con l'estero?

Thlcareers ha la particolarità di essere l'unico sito web in lingua inglese e italiana in Italia, dedicato a chi cerca e offre lavoro nel settore del turismo, dell'ospitalità e del tempo libero. Questa particolarità fa si che molte aziende internazionali (una su tutte Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, proprietaria del celeberrimo hotel a forma di vela di Dubai) cercano su thlcareers personale italiano, richiestissimo nell'ambito ricettivo e ristorativo, da inserire in strutture di prim'ordine in tutto il mondo. Il turismo è per definizione un settore internazionale e thlcareers è in linea con tale definizione operando in questo settore.

Quale è stato il momento che ti ha più dato soddisfazione da quando è nata thlcareers?

Premi di cui siamo stati insigniti (anche se indirettamente) da parte della Fondazione Politecnico di Milano come uno tra i tre migliori siti italiani del 2009, i numerosi apprezzamenti degli utenti ricevuti in occasione degli incontri vis a vis avvenuti durante le fiere alle quali abbiamo partecipato, le partnership strette con le più importanti università del mondo (Cornell School of Hotel Administration e Thames Valley University), i complimenti delle aziende clienti e fornitrici. Infine, non per importanza, la crescita in termini di visibilità e di traffico di thlcareers.

Come ci si sente dalla parte di chi sta realizzando il progetto per il quale ha tanto lavorato?

Sinceramente non credo di aver già realizzato il mio progetto, nel senso che thlcareers è un'entità viva, sempre in fase di evoluzione e di conseguenza non è "finito". Ci sono tanti obiettivi da raggiungere, partnership da corroborare. I progetti in catiere sono tanti e tanti altri ne nasceranno nei tempi a venire.                

Cosa consiglieresti a chi vuole portare avanti il tuo stesso sogno?

Crederci è fondamentale, cercare sempre lo sbocco giusto, avere un pizzico di incoscienza e non avere mai il timore di chiedere aiuto ad altri. Sono sicuro che l'umiltà è il modo migliore per essere apprezzati.

Convinto che il mercato e la ricerca di lavoro oggigiorno non possa prescindere dal web, e che nessuna azienda possa snobbare le potenzialita' della rete, Francesco ha iniziato un nuovo progetto creando e sviluppando greenenergyjobs.com, il primo portale web in Italia dedicato a chi cerca e offre lavoro nelle energie rinnovabili. My first post about the ones I retain talents and to whom I want to give the possibility to distinguish themselves, it's about a great friend of mine. A person that I really estimate and who is fighting to realize his dream.

I would like to say to you that I made the interview with a good coffee in a bar in Catania, where he lives and works, like we usually do when we meet during my Sicilian breaks, speaking about everything until the small hours, but the truth is that I made an online interview where I could only imagine every face expression of him for my questions, that, on some of them, I'm sure he answered with a smile....

He was born in 1982 and until the age of 12, he grew up in Niscemi, a little town in the Sicilan hinterland. He got the secondary-school diploma (with a bias towards classical studies) at "Liceo Classico" in Caltagirone and then he matriculated at the University of Catania in Foreign Languages, attending the course of "Science for International Communication". He specialized in the study of Russian language and also learnt english and Arabian languages.

Besides, he went in the prestigious "Lomonosov", the Public University of Moscow, coming into a close contact with Russian culture and society.

After the degree with a graduation thesis on "Soviet and post-Soviet commercial advertising", he created and developed several projects in internet, initiating thlcareers.com , an international society with the seat in Catania which operates through the web-portal  www.thlcareers.com , the best italian website with a high international status, dedicated to job offers and demands in tourism, accomodation and spare time.

Through a constant activity of planning and development, the web-portal becomes, in a short time, the best point where demand and supply in tourism in Italy meet each other, boasting in his customer portfolio,some leading companies in tourism like Jumeirah, Costa Crociere, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Valtur, Hilton and Missoni Hotels , just to mention some.

Q:  Is it hard to leave the thoughless world of the University and move towards the rough world of job?

A:  It's always a regret when you finish to study in University because the world of job is translated in more stress and responsability. Sometimes, I feel nostalgic when I think of myself as a student!

On the other hand, a student hopes to finish as soon as possible his studies to begin working!

If University is difficult, the world of job is exponentially more harsh and pitiless. My first job interviews were quite simple, even if some rejections arrived. But, in spite of my little success, I understand that dependent work wasn't my future, so, I tried to find others directions.

Q:  Did you have other experiences before thlcareers, and did they help you? How much did they influence on your personal growth?

A: My work experiences before thlcarrers were really formative, they teached me how far the world of job was, compared to the educational one. But, to tell the truth, what I learnt during my works was nothing new, for me.

My working experiences only helped me to strengthen my enterprise. I perfectly know that it's not so easy, above all in Sicily, to find reliable and important firms that give to you the chance of growing! This was one of the reason for which I choose a "self-job".

Q:  Was it reckless, for your part, to take up the role of enterpreneur with all risks which this figure entails, did you ever pass some moments in which your convintions have failed? And in what way did you face up them?

A:  Moments of discouragement were always present but I believe in myself and in my great idea  of my core business. After all , the best ideas arise from a dream. Sometimes they become truth, sometimes not, but it is worth trying rather than living with the regret of  a possible but never happened outcome.

Q:  Who was close to you in your difficult moments?

A:  I would never start without my parents. They are the bow and I'm the string. They go on encouraging me. Although, it is Valentina, my girlfriend, the person who daily "bears" me. Finally, my friends are my best "companions in dreams"!

Q:  Where did the idea of thlcareers.com originate?

A:  It originated from the hiatus that italian compaies left in market. Realities like thlcareers are successful in foreign countries, but in Italy, only few companies offer services like ours, but they are appreciated and useful anyway.

Q:  To start off your thlcareers.com website, you would maybe have got to do with bureaucracy. Was it a hindrance for you?

A:  Bureaucracy means hindrance, obstacle which takes shape in waste of time and money. I don't retain it useless, but it is better to everyone that it semplifies practices and reduces time of waiting.

Q:  Nowadays, in Italy, is it difficult to manage a website like thlcareers.com?

A:  The most important thing is to find dinamic, precise, capable and competent people. Unfortunately, here in Sicily, this is hard, even if Catania boasts a University with a large number of competent students.

The essential problem is a sidereal distance between training and job that, on the contrary, they would be one the continuation of the other.

Q:  How much do you work with foreign countries?

A:  In Italy, thlcareers has the peculiarity to be the only website in english and italian languages dedicated to people who are looking for and offer a job in tourism, accomodation and spare time. This peculiarity tempts many international companies (among many, Jumeirah Hotel and Resort, owner of the great renown hotel with the shape of a sail in Dubai), which usually search for italian staff on thlcareers to set in first-class structures, in accomodation and restorative fields, all over the world.

Q:  What were the most gratifying events or facts since thlcareers was born?

A:  They are certainly awards whose we are made conferred (even if indirectly), for example, from the Politecnico Foundation in Milan in 2009, or several appreciations  from users in occasion of meetings "vis a vis" during some fairs in which we took part, or the close partnership with the most important Universities of the world (Cornell School of Hotel Administration and Thames Valley University), or the compliments of customer and furnisher companies.

In the end, but not for importance, the growth in terms of visibility and activity of thlcareers.

Q:  How do you feel to play the part of a person who is fulfilling the project in which he always works and believes in?

A:  Honestly, I don't think to have already realized my project, because thlcareers is a "living" entity, always in course of evolution and, therefore, it's not finished. There are too many goals to achieve and partnerships to strengthen. Projects in preparation are many and others will rise in the future.

Q:  What do you suggest to someone who would like to go ahead with a dream like yours?

A:  Just to believe in, it's foundamental. What you only need is to have a little bit of recklessness and never to fear to ask someone to help you. I'm sure that humility is the best way to be appreciated.

Francesco, convinced that, up to now, market and job-research cannot set aside from web and no companies can snub the power of the net, he started on a new project by creating and building up greenenergyjobs.com , the first web-portal in Italy dedicated to people who are searching and offering a job in renewable energies.
