Da sempre sono appassionata di storie di vampiri e quindi andando a in giro per il web e per Facebook, mi sono imbattuta nella pagina de I Diari di Seaport. Ho così incontrato Elisa e Giulia, due dolcissime ragazze, che mi hanno fatto conoscere il loro libro settimana dopo settimana pubblicando un capitolo per volta e coinvolgendomi in questa appassionante storia.
Oggi esce finalmente il tanto atteso "I Diari di Seaport - La sete dei vampiri e il potere delle streghe" che io sono orgogliosa di presentarvi in anteprima.

Elisa Bertini
Nata nel 1988 a Ravenna, dove ha conseguito il diploma presso il Liceo Scientifico.Attualmente frequenta l’università di Lettere e Filosofia a Bologna. La scrittura è da sempre la sua passione: i suoi primi scritti risalgono a quando aveva dodici anni, quando sotto la forte influenza delle letture degli esponenti della Beat Generation scrisse la sua prima raccolta di racconti.

Trama de "I Diari di Seaport - La sete dei vampiri e il potere delle streghe"
Melinda ed Elena, amiche inseparabili, sono sempre state considerate due tranquille ragazze normali. Questo almeno finché, al compimento del loro ventunesimo compleanno, non lasciano il College in cui studiano per trascorrere le vacanze estive a Seaport, la piccola città in cui sono nate e cresciute. Ad attenderle, una volta ritornate a casa, c’è un regalo molto speciale: una lettera e due strani medaglioni, che la nonna di Melinda, morta un anno prima, ha voluto fare avere alla nipote e alla sua migliore amica.
Nel frattempo, a Seaport, iniziano a farsi vedere Coven ed Edric: due giovani imprenditori di New York, bellissimi, ricchissimi, enigmatici... le attività che stanno pianificando sembrano una benedizione per il turismo locale, ma perché ogni volta che le due ragazze li incontrano i medaglioni che portano al collo iniziano a scottare?
Chi sono veramente i due affascinanti stranieri, o meglio: cosa sono?
Cosa cercano di nascondere nel momento in cui intrecciano con Melinda ed Elena una relazione ai limiti della pericolosità?
L’unica cosa sicura è che Melinda ed Elena non sono più soltanto due studentesse modello perché, inaspettatamente, iniziano a manifestare il possesso di strani poteri. E come se non fosse abbastanza difficile per loro accettare la nuova natura di streghe, le due ragazze dovranno affrontare l’impensabile orrore di giovani senza nome che, all’improvviso, vengono ritrovati morti nel bosco.
Chi si nasconde dietro questi omicidi? E perché a Seaport sta succedendo tutto questo? Per scoprirlo, non resta che seguire Melinda ed Elena nel corso di un’avventura ricca di colpi di scena: una storia di streghe e vampiri firmata dalle autrici-rivelazione del nuovo fantasy italiano.

Da chi nasce l’idea di scrivere un libro?
L’idea per questo romanzo è venuta da entrambe, ed è nata soprattutto dalla nostra passione per il genere vampiresco, unitasi ai nostri personali interessi per la cultura egizia e quella celtica, che poi come vedrete abbiamo inserito all’interno dell’ opera.
Per non parlare dello spunto iniziale, tratto da una vecchia bozza di progetto tutta stropicciata, tirata fuori dopo una strana illuminazione arrivata grazie al film “The Ugly Truth”!
Avete sempre scritto oppure è una passione nata da poco?
Elisa: praticamente scrivo da sempre...adoro i libri, che divoro da quando sono piccolissima! I miei primi scritti risalgono a quando avevo dodici anni. Sono stata collaboratrice de “Il Resto del Carlino”, poi nel 2008 ho pubblicato il mio primo romanzo, come co-autrice (Byron a Pezzi, Fernandel Editore) e ora...vedremo se questa stupenda avventura potrà continuare!
Giulia: Da tempo solleticavo l’idea, poi realizzatasi concretamente insieme ad Elisa, con la quale ho scritto, oltre a “I Diari di Seaport”, altri precedenti romanzi non ancora pubblicati...mi auguro vivamente di proseguire su questa fantastica strada!
Quali autori vi hanno ispirato?
Ci siamo ispirate soprattutto ai romanzi della Meyer, della Smith, di P.C. e Kristin Cast, con alcune influenze della Rice e di Stoker, che di conseguenza consigliamo vivamente di leggere!
Vampiri e lupi mannari sul vostro libro. Un amore per il genere fantasy ma, da qualche anno, anche un business di grande successo. Ci avete pensato mentre stendevate il canovaccio?
Direi proprio di si...certo c’è la passione per questa tematica, ma c’è anche la voglia di inserirsi in un mercato che ora come ora offre molte possibilità...siamo giovani e ci piacerebbe costruirci un futuro grazie a questo progetto, gettando così le basi per una carriera che ci auguriamo vivamente abbia successo!
Melinda ed Elena sono le protagoniste del libro. Quanto c’è di voi in queste due eroine?
Tantissimo, ci siamo basate fondamentalmente su noi stesse!
Perciò ci rispecchiano molto... caratterialmente siamo noi, non in tutto e per tutto, ovviamente, ma davvero molto.
Soprattutto per quanto riguarda il rapporto tra di loro: come noi nella vita reale, anche Melinda ed Elena sono migliori amiche da tanto tempo, così tanto da essere praticamente sorelle!
A chiunque piacerebbe avere dei poteri particolari, ma voi preferireste avere i poteri di una strega o di un vampiro?
Emh...di entrambi!! Per quanto riguarda la figura della strega, ci piacerebbe da impazzire essere “potenti” ed avere appunto poteri particolari, mentre per quanto riguarda le caratteristiche del vampiro...chi non vorrebbe essere immortale?!
Vi ho seguito su Facebook quando ogni settimana ci allietavate con un nuovo capitolo de “I Diari di Seaport”. Quanto ha contribuito questo network e quindi le vostre fans a rendere possibile la pubblicazione del libro?
Praticamente ha contribuito al 100%!! Senza questa tipologia di diffusione non avremmo avuto la cifra di fans che poi ci ha consentito di venire pubblicate!
Oggi è molto difficile entrare nel mondo dell’ editoria se non hai un nome...c’è stato davvero utile l’elevato numero di lettori che abbiamo su Facebook, che è stato una buona garanzia per la pubblicazione in quanto “percentuale di vendita”!
La vostra vita è già cambiata rispetto a prima della pubblicazione o vi aspettate dei cambiamenti sostanziali all’uscita del libro?
A livello personale è cambiata moooolto positivamente : la soddisfazione di vedere realizzato un sogno è impagabile! Per quanto riguarda i cambiamenti che ci aspettiamo dopo l’uscita fisica del libro...ci auguriamo davvero di cuore che abbia successo, in modo che ci sia permesso di continuare su questa strada, permettendoci di farci una carriera su una passione che vorremmo coltivare.
A quanto pare questo è il primo di una saga, ci avevate già pensato mentre lo scrivevate oppure lo avete deciso insieme all’editore?
Ci avevamo già pensato da subito: abbiamo iniziato a scrivere la storia pensando ad una saga di tre libri.
Che rapporto avete con il vostro editore?Vi aiuta, consiglia, segue?
Il nostro editore? Fantastico!! Ci ha accolte praticamente al buio e con grande entusiasmo, aiutandoci, consigliandoci e facendoci emozionare sempre di più nella creazione di questa nostra “creatura” neo nata!
Che emozione si prova a veder realizzato un sogno come il vostro?
Indescrivibile...soprattutto perché è da tempo che coltiviamo questo sogno, e vederlo finalmente realizzato è davvero impagabile...ci auguriamo che anche i lettori, leggendo il libro, sogno un po’ con noi e con Melinda ed Elena!
Che farete il giorno dell’uscita del libro?
(Ridono) La sera usciremo a festeggiare con la F maiuscola!
Cosa consigliereste a chi vuole intraprendere la carriera dello scrittore o comunque a chi vorrebbe veder pubblicato un suo manoscritto?
Il consiglio più utile che possiamo dare è: ragazzi, ci vuole tanta passione ma anche tanta pazienza...Non disperate mai, anche se i rifiuti saranno tanti, perseverate per la vostra strada, non abbandonate mai se davvero è il vostro sogno. Serve anche molto senso critico e tanta umiltà, non smettete mai di perfezionarvi nel vostro lavoro: c’è sempre da imparare. Ultima cosa: diffidate assolutamente degli editori a pagamento!!
Due nuove scrittrici del Fantasy italiano che oggi iniziano la loro "fantastica" avventura. Io vi auguro tanto successo e tantissime nuove emozioni da dividere con i vostri lettori, nel frattempo corro in libreria a comprare il vostro primo libro!

I'm passionate from time immemorial of vampire's stories and making the round of websites and Facebook, I'm come across "I Diari di Seaport" webpage. Thus, I met Elisa and Giulia, two sweet girls, who introduced me to their book, week after week, publishing one chapter at a time and holding my interest from the first pages of this exciting story.
Today, it finally comes out the long-awaited "I Diari di Seaport- la sete dei vampiri e il potere delle streghe" which I'm proud to introduce it to you before everybody else.
Elisa Bertini
She was born in 1988 in Ravenna, where she got a diploma in science secondary school. Currently, she goes to University in Arts faculty in Bologna. Writing always is her passion: her first writings dates from about 10 years ago, when, under the strong influence of the readings of Beat Generation's exponents, she wrote her first collection of short stories. Going on with this way, Elisa was a contributor to the daily newspaper "Il resto del Carlino" and also the coauthor of the novel "Byron a pezzi" (Fernandel, 2008)
Giulia Ottaviani
She was born in 1988 in Ravenna, where she got a diploma in Mosaic Arts. From time out of mind, she's very found of arts (at present, she's attending the faculty of Cultural Heritage in Ravenna) and she lavished her attitude in life and also in her novels which contain remarkable historical references to the ancient Egypt's culture and mythology.
The two young writers' friendship began at school, almost 10 years ago: from then on, they are best friends but also inseparable sisters in life.
"I Diari di Seaport" is their first novel at four hands: a project born on Facebook pages and grew up chapter after chapter thanks to the enthusiasm of the large number of readings.

The Plot
Melinda and Elena, two close friends, have always been considered two quiet girls , untill, at the age of 21 years old, they left the College to spend their summer holidays in Seaport, the little town when they were born and grew up. When they arrived at home, a special gift waited for them: it's a letter and two strange medallions , which Melinda's grandmother, who died a year before, wanted to leave it to her grand-daughter and her best friend.
In the meantime, at Seaport, Coven and Edric came forward: they are two young enterpreneurs of New York , handsome, very rich and mysterious men... they are planning some business which seems to be a blessing for local tourism. But, every time the two girls meet them, the medallions at their necks start to burn, why?
Who, or better, what really are the two charming foreigners?
What do they try to hide to Melinda and Elena when they embark a dangerous love affair with them?
The only thing we know for certain is that Melinda and Elena are not just two exemplary students any more because ,unexpectedly, they start to come into possession of strange supernatural powers.
But as if that wasn't enough difficult for them to accept their new witch nature, they even have to face up to the unforseeable horror about anonymous young men who, all of a sudden, are found as corpses in the wood. Who is behind these murders? And what does it happen in Seaport? To disclose it, there is nothing left to do but follow Melinda and Elena in the course of an adventure full of "coup de thèatre": a story about witches and vampires signed by the authors-revelation of the new italian fantasy novel.
Interview
Q: Who has the idea to write a book?
A: The idea for the novel comes to both of us, and above all, comes to our passion for vampiric genre and our personal interests for Egyptian and Celtic culture, that, as you could see, we have included in the novel. Then with regard to the initial cue, it's drawn from an old and crumpled rough draft pulled out after a flash of inspiration thanks to the movie "The ugly truth"!
Q: When did your passion for writing arise?
A: (Elisa) I virtually write from time immemorial... I love books which I read since I was little! My first writings dated back to when I was 12 years old. I was a contributor to the daily newspaper "Il resto del Carlino", then, in 2008, I published my first novel as coauthor ("Byron a pezzi", Fernandel Editore) and now... we'll see if this great adventure could go on!
(Giulia) I've always been interesting on it, and I realized this passion together with Elisa,and with her, I've written besides "I Diari di Seaport", also other novel, not published yet... I obviously hope to carry on this fantastic way!
Q: Who are the authors that you are inspired by?
A: We are above all inspired by Meyer, Smith, P.C. and Kristin Cast's novels, with some influences by Rice and Sticker, who we advice you to read!
Q: Vampires and werewolves are on your book. An affection for fantasy genre but, from some years, it's also a successful business. Did you ever think about it?
A: Yes, of course, we did. It's normal that we have the passion for this kind of thematics but there is also the wish to settle in a market which, nowadays, offers many possibilities... we are young girls and we would like to build a future thanks to this project, laying the foundations for a carrier that we deeply confide it will have a huge success!
Q: Melinda and Elena are the protagonists of the book. How much are they similar to you?
A: Very much, we basically go by ourselves! Thus, they reflect us a lot... on what concern the personality, we are very similar on almost everything, especially as for the relationship between them: like we do in real life, Melinda and Elena are also best friends for a long time, so close to seem sisters!
Q: Everyone would possess some particular power, do you prefer to have witch or vampire's one?
A: Ehmm... both!! As for witch's figure, it drives us crazy to be "powerful", as for vampire's features, who wouldn't be immortal?
Q: I follow you on Facebook, when, every week, you cheer us with a new chapter of "I Diari di Seaport". How much do this network and your fans contribute with the publication of the book?
A: Practically, they contributed on 100%!! Without this sort of diffusion, we should have not the number of fans required to be published!
Today, it's too difficult to go far in the world of publishing if you don't have a reputation... the large numbers of readers on Facebook has been useful to us, also because it offered us a guarantee for the publication as "percentage of selling"!
Q: Are your lives already changed or do you expect great changes after the publication of your book?
A: At personal level, they are positively changed: the satisfaction of seeing your dream realized, it's priceless!
As for the changes we expect after the "material" publication of our book... we really hope to be successful so that we could continue on this way, and get on with a passion we would cultivate.
Q: Your book seems to be the first of a saga, did you already think during the drawing up or is it a decision taken together with the publisher?
A: We already thought to a saga of three books when we started to write it.
Q: What kind of relationship do you have with your publisher? Does he help, suggest and follow you?
A: Our publisher? He's a fantastic man! He welcame us with a big enthusiasm, helping, suggesting and exciting us on the creation of our new-born work!
Q: What will you do on the day of the publication of your book?
A: (Laughing) On night, we'll go out to give a huge party!
Q: What do you suggest to whom wants to launch into the writer carrier or to whom would like to see own manuscript published?
A: The most useful advice we could give to them it's the following: Hey guys, you need strong passion but also a good deal of patience... Never despair even if you'll receive many rejections, you have to persist and never give up if it really is your dream. You also need to have critical mind and humility because it's better to improve the knowledge of your work: there is always to learn. The last thing: absolutely distrust fee-paying editors!!!
Today, two new italian fantasy writers start their fantastic adventure. I wish you a big success and many new emotion to share with your readers. In the meantime, I run in the bookshop to buy your first book!
